CIGNA Medicare
Offers Medical and Prescription Drug Coverage At A Low Cost

CIGNA Medicare health plans are provided by a company that has over 80 years experience in the health care industry. Choosing Medicare Advantage programs like the ones through CIGNA offer many benefits.

Over 10 million people in the United States participate in these plans. In addition to hospital coverage, low copay for doctor visits, vision benefits, and hearing benefits, the CIGNA programs also offer you nationwide coverage, worldwide emergency coverage, pharmacy benefits, and discounts on acupuncture and massage.

CIGNA Medicare health plans come in four levels of access. Plan One provides you with basic medical benefits. Plan Two provides basic medical benefits along with Part D drug coverage. Plan Three is medical coverage with comprehensive benefits that cover dental, vision, and hearing, while Plan Four offers comprehensive medical benefits along with drug coverage.

CIGNA Medicare plans are not available to residents in all states and benefits may vary according to geographic location. Be sure to examine the plans as they are offered in your immediate area as coverage can vary by county. If you want to choose CIGNA as your provider, you must sign up during the open enrollment period which is held at the end of the year for coverage in the upcoming year.

CIGNA offers additional benefits to your medical coverage. You are given a toll free number to call for recorded health information or to discuss your medical concerns with a registered nurse. In addition, you have the option of receiving home pharmacy delivery of your regular medications. CIGNA also provides you with a discount card that will save you money on fitness memberships, eyewear, vision exams, hearing tests, hearing aids, batteries, and chiropractic care. You are also provided programs and discounts to help you with weight loss, proper nutrition, dental care, laser vision care, and smoking cessation.

CIGNA provides a convenient online help center that lets you keep track of your services, discounts, and coverage in one easy to navigate site. Those who prefer to call on the phone can use the toll free number instead.

To be eligible for CIGNA Medicare coverage, you must be 65 or older or younger than 65 and have a qualifying disability. You must meet the eligibility requirements of Medicare which include paying into Social Security for at least ten years. You can visit the Social Security website or a location in your city of residence for more information on determining your eligibility for Medicare coverage.

As we age, we tend to need more medical care and these expenses can rapidly mount. The advantage to having a CIGNA Medicare plan is that your expenses are predictable flat fees so you know what to expect and can afford to pay it. In addition, the common medications used by seniors are covered under the prescription plan. If you take a lot of medications or require frequent medical care, Medicare health plans can help you save.
